Nice Find!

Keith, I was just going to post that story when I saw that you had posted it. Funny thing about that story is, I was BORN in Methuen, Mass in 1960 and lived there for a couple of years before my dad's company transferred him.
Maybe that was in MY backyard!!
Take care,
Jeff

You just never know for sure what's there until you dig. My Grandfather buried $300 in his yard back in 63. He eventually dug it up but could there have been more??? Who knows.... I buried a bunch of wheat pennies and at least a Kennedy half back in the mid 60s when I was a kid but I think I dug them up. Not absolutely sure though but I haven't been able to find them with a detector yet where I think I put them..... <img src="/metal/html/frown.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":(">

There was a similar story that happened in Oregon a few years back. This guy, just like these two, broadcasted to the world of his fantastic find. He even put a few old coins in the cafe window in town. "For everyone to enjoy".
One night three bad men broke into his house and held a knife to his kids throat, until he came up with the loot. They also stopped by the local cafe, broke the window and took those coins too. So believe me, when I tell you that any treasure I find, the general public ain't gonna know anything about it.

how hard would it be to buy some research material and find the worth of the money quietly? Hello IRS.

Now there's going to be some long-lost descendant of a prior owner of the property coming out of the woodwork to lay claim (real or fabricated) to part or all of the find.

Seems these guys weren't lucky at all! They stole the property and then arrested because they sought publicity!
