Nicotine

TURNMASTER

Active member
I have not had any tabaco for 48 hours and have not killed anyone with whom I live. So that is a good thing.

We will see if I can make it for another 24. Cope it satisfies.

A friend says that you can do ANYTHING for 24 hours. The question is whether or not you can do it and still be considered an inteligent rational human being.

I am going to go sit in a corner and quiver now.

Bless your heart, Jeff, for giving up the nicotine habit! I am praying for you to be able to quit period!! My brother, Cliff, threw away his cigs and never smoked again! He quit cold turkey, because he made up his mind that he didn't want to smoke any more and he didn't! In the mean time, keep your sanity and may others do so, too! Win the fight against satan's temptation with Jesus and you will have the Victory! Amen!

May God Bless and be with you to help you from giving in to the nicotine drug! Ma Betty

Jeff - Good start - keep the inner faith in yourself. Everything can be overcome one way or another. Steve in so az

Better yet, you can do anything through Christ Jesus!
I am in your corner praying right now for ya buddy!

Friends of mine prayed that a neighbor of theirs would quite smoking. He died 9 months later.
Those friends of mine are now very carefull of how they pray and word their prayers --- thuogh they do not feel responsible for his death.

Sooo, please be carefull how you pray, and that applies in all situations!

In the past I have made it from 24 hours to as long as 2 years.

Teach your kids that they do not want the habit. Send them here I will talk to them.

Thanks
Jeff

This is a fact. I kinda think that is what steve meant .

Jeff, God will grant you the strength to become smoke free. Remember brother ~ Your body is the temple for the Holy Spirit. You will be in my prayers for success.

I was smoking 2.5 packs a day.....quit 1-5-2003...7 years thank God Amen........Dan

I'm delighted to read that many of you have either quit or using less. I quit 25+ years ago (about the same time I recieved my divorce ~ maybe they were related?) and feel so much better now then I did then. Don't wait until the pack is gone. Quit Now!

You can do it. I smoked and quit. I used to smoke and weld at the same time. Talk about a double dose of poison. Once you get by the need, you will feel a lot better. I can't stand to be around smoke now. Did not realize how bad it smelled until I quit.

Mike Chgo,
Man every can I bought for about the last 3 months was going to be the last. Do not know how long this one will last, but we have got to keep quiting or we never will. I don't know maybe this is one of those things that takes practice. Most of the guys at work who dip and have stopped, have picked it back up several times. Several have been able to put it down for longer periods each next time.

The stress that goes with the super precision work we do, does not help.

Pulling for ya guys and Thanks to our Lord for those who have quit long term.

Jeff

Jeff and Mike (chgo) smoking or chewing is a habit but to quit for good you each must make up your minds that you want to quit and not have to do it like my Uncle John and dad had too, when their lungs were so bad and had to have oxygen to keep breathing! I have never smoked, so I don't know how hard it is to quit, but there are other habits that are difficult to quit, too, and mine is sweets! I lost weight by weight watchers years ago, but have gained those lost pounds and more, as I am unable to walk and exercise like I did then!

The divorce didn't help with all the stress that I went through, but when it is our health that is suffering.....let us think about it and do what needs to be done in the love of God and with Jesus' help! My brother quit in 1996 or 97 and he had smoked since he was in his young teens! His lungs were bad because of his Pulmonary Hypertension disease, but it did help him to live longer by quitting and he just threw his cigs away and never smoked again, for he had made up his mind that he didn't need them and they were too expensive when he needed money for other things! My prayers are with you, both, and May God Bless you with a made up mind to stop and not smoke or chew again and to take away the desire for nicotine to be able to do so! Amen! Ma Betty

Jeff, something you might want to check out. It is a course on quitting smoking....Biblically based course...free

http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/courses/

The course is called Breath of Life.

I have taken a couple of their courses that have gotten be out of bondage and into freedom and also a couple other courses (One on the Full Armour of God and the other about The Cross). All free.

The courses on breaking addictions are usually available with mentors to help you answer questions, help motivate you when you are feeling weakened and so forth.

I am so glad I had found the course that set me free of my addiction - and saved our marriage as well.

Congrats on staying free so far but helps to have God's Word working with you to be free. If Jesus sets you free, you are free indeed. God bless.

I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Phil. 4:13 -- Our Lord Jesus gives us the power to do all that we wish as long as its according to His Word.

Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. --- Make sure we don't dilly dally on Satan's ground. Get your mind totally on other things other than smoking. It is well known that smokers have "triggers" . Most smoke while on the phone, or driving, or right after a meal, and so on and so forth. If you have a coke, or coffee, or something like that and a smoke, then try drinking good clean water to remove the trigger. It is a battle but if we think on things that are pure and Holy, and good (scripture would be a good thing) then your mind is less likely to be occupied with other things.

Another little piece of advice, well i know you didn't ask for it, but I'm sure we all want to see you succeed! Get rid of everything you own that is related to smoking. Ash trays, cigarettes(especially), anything. :) Collect them all and make your trashcan an alter, sacrifice them there, offer up your body as the temple of the Holy Spirit, as we all should, and be rid of the stuff. Im prayin for ya man!

Thanks for all the good wishes and the prayers.

It has been just over 1 week now. Mike reminded me that an update was in order. Well I bummed a dip off of one of the guys Friday morn and that was it. So pretty good overall.

I have not run into any overly stressfull situations so that helps alot.

Stress can be a killer for the quitting process. Seems to be a higher rate of recitivism among those who chew.

Jeff

Hang on to Jesus even tighter and He will help you by your having a made-up mind to quit for good! Praying that the taste of Nicotine is removed to make it easier to quit! I knew a good Christian lady who said her brother quit smoking because they had prayed for the cigs to taste so nasty and bitter that he couldn't smoke them and it happened and he quit the bad habit! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
