Looks religious but been a while since I went to church. Got out today and hunted the shore of Child's bog and got a goodie. This was with my DFX, but what the hey, we're all detectorists here. Still doing ok in the silver dept. Ron

Love finding them Standing Liberty Quarters in that kind of shape. How deep was it? Hope you find a few more keepers and Good Luck and HH.

Very nice Ron. haven't seen a 28 before.
Religious I know But what does it say and mean.
You should post the quarter.
AND you should have called me .

It was only 3" deep in sandy soil. That's my fourth, 3 with dates and one with mint luster. They just don't make coins like they used to. Ron

I take that they were found together Bob. I believe they are part of a Rosarie. They sometimes have beads and are used in prayer. Now check this out. They will sometimes burry these Rosaries in a persons yard when a loved one dies as a sign of passing. It's an old custom that I just found out about this this year. Hope this helps.

Bob,

It looks like Greek letters the last three are SIS...

would look up the Greek alphabet and see if you can match the rest...

also looks like a Christian scene

Hi Bob,
it's me again. On the front is obviously a nativity scene (ox, donkey, virgin mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus) - the letters may mean Gennesis - I'm not sure, though. On the back it looks like a baptismal scene - the holy ghost as a dove and either a blessing or a baptism.

Good luck - hope I could help a little bit - let me know if you find out more.

Steve

Bob,

correction again: I now think that the letters form a word called Rennesis - still don't know what it might mean - it is Greek, though.

Steve

would probably to see a catholic priest who may be versed in old type scriptures...Or may be a web site that you could email pics to...TT

GENNISIS - Greek spelling of Genesis, the first book in the Bible. The scene is from that book, but I don't know the Bible as well as I should. Someone familiar with the Bible could probably tell what that scene is. Post a close up of the wording on the other side to see if I can read it too. Take care, Mike.
