No Detecting !!

Elton

New member
Nope not a sign in the Park.......... This No Detecting is weather related.

95/96 with heat index of 105 to 112 ..... Whew that is hot.

Ground is like cement....... Need rain and cool weather .

'bout all a guy can do is swing for freshies, and even then very early...maybe hitting the icecream stand parking lots before or just at sunup? Some lady lost a ring saturday at the boatramp down the road and posted it on Craigslist...so I went and had a look unsuccessfully...so I dont know, quick looking and sweeping for freshies is about all I'm doing. Though I did find a few irrigated park spots where the stabbing is still possible, and we did get some heavy rain earlier in the week. Might be a good time to just focus on gold rings at the edges of parking lots really early. It would be just about impossible to try to find deep silver in this heat and rock hard ground where you live Elton. I'm still trying to get the greenskeepers to let me into and under the bleachers of a few football fields, and sweeping up after weekend events. Yeah, those nice Fall days when the soil is just right will be coming fast enough!

Yeah, it's a kinda backyard tea in the shade sort of day. Hey, got a totlot back there, haven't been there in a couple weeks...

Yea.......and the problem with that is about 12" of Snow is soon to follow... I know, I'm never HAPPY" LOL....

I tried some detecting yesterday. But Man the heat was terrible, the digging all but impossible..........Our tot lots all have Blue Rubber overlays.........

The bugs were vicious in the woods I tried for 5 minutes......... Guess I will research some spots.....

Yep.... I resemble that remark .............. Only thing you forgot was The prefix,, "SENSIBLE" Pansie ........ :heh:

You guys call yourselves die hards?

I will be out this evening.
Just I won't be digging deepies with a Lesche , but using a screwdriver to pop shallow items out.

It is a morning/evening game now.
That is all that changes.

Elton, I do think that Jim may have been rather harsh :)lol:). I was thinking more along the lines of "shrinking violet". "Sensible" you say. Since when have blokes been sensible? Just before sunrise is a good time to hunt and the height of summer. When the water in your hip bottle starts boiling, then that"s probably a good time to "call it a day".

Grumpy,
You should try detecting in a cooler area, like Houston.
It was in the mid 90's here but with 92% humidity it is just like a sauna !!!!! :stretcher:
Heat index is usually 8 degrees more than the official reading on the thermometer.

In my trips to the Phoenix area, I found 110 degree days with under 10% humidity much more bearable than 85 degree days at 85% humidity. Just need to make sure you stay hydrated with the low humidity. While the sweat dries fast and keeps you feeling cooler, you can easily dehydrate and get in big trouble before you know what is happening.

Me ... if it were 65 degrees, slightly overcast and 40% humidity every day, I would not have much reason to come inside.
Cheers,

Ya think that would be a good time Furious LOL ..............:

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I never said Die Hard..I said all that Heat was a Hard way to Die !!!!!!!!!!! :bouncy:

Yeah its been one hot SOB out there. Only saving grace is there has been a steady breeze and some spotted cloud cover for the last two weeks. Though that hasn't helped the concrete-like soil at alot of my hunting spots.

Can't wait ro get a water machine. That is gonna be the ticket to beat this heat and still bring in the loot ;)
Can hardly get my hunting buddy ( two year old daughter ) to move around and play.
She is content to let Daddy set up her chair under a shade tree and tend to her cold bottle of sprite lol

Same here hot and dry. I took the F75 to the park and of course is was to dry to dig so I de-tuned it and run the coil about 3 or so inches off the ground looking for jewelry. I used the depth reading from the machine to get an idea then I carried the pro pointer in the other hand, once I pinpointed with the detector I would check with the pro pointer and if it would detect it I would take it out with my prob, if not I would walk on.

Didn't find anything except a few coins but at least I got out and didn't make a mess in the park. Didn't even take my digger, didn't want to be tempted.

That is a nice idea you have there about new drops and Jewelery !! I think I'll try that in my area..
