No more contact after trade agreed? What to do?

Sorry to the mods if this isn't the appropriate forum.

I agreed on a trade with another member who lives oversees. The other guy hasn't made many posts, and had no deals on the forums. Not necessarily a dealbreaker, but I told him that I couldn't do the deal unless he sent his detector first, and then I would send him mine after I received it. He was ok with that. I sent him my shipping info and he sent me his.
Well, that was 10 days ago. He went from responding quickly to PMs and emails, and now doesn't respond at all. His last contact was 5/24 when he said he would let me know tracking info.

Rock and a hard place now, because I'm not sure if I should forget about it and just list my detector for sale. I keep saying "one more day". What if his detector shows up after I sell mine?
Can you refuse to accept an oversees package and have it returned to sender?

To the "other guy" in the deal...I still want to do the trade. I'll wait longer if I just knew something. PM me or shoot me an email. You have my info.

Just to clarify - that should be "I sent him my shipping info and he sent me his shipping info."

If he sent you info ..can you track it ??? I received a package from England in a little over a week..Took my package almost a month to reach England....Shipped same day..US Mail ,and Royal Mail Service..

Elton - the last message from him said that everything was ready to go and that he would send me the tracking info. He never sent the tracking info.

I would send him an e-mail with "Return Receipt" and see if he reads it. If he does, then send him another mail stating your intention of putting the detector back up for sale if he does not respond within 2 days. If he does not read the mail, something may have happened (like being in the hospital). In the case that he does not read your e-mail, I would wait a week and then put the detector back out on the market.

Quote your post.................. He was ok with that. I sent him my shipping info and he sent me his.

I was thinking tracking numbers not address info exchange..Sorry !!

I thought he sent info and you were waiting for the package.. If he didn't do that..then no deal was finalized and I would relist...........

Elton, my only concern is that I sell/trade my detector (Explorer - not the Edge I just posted) and a day or two later a detector shows up on my porch from the other side of the world.
Would I have to pay to send it back?

When I send stuff out of the US. The post office tells me my packages can only be tracked in the US. Once it hits another country tracking is lost. UPS and Fedex may be different?

Just wait awhile and feel it out.. Yea , if he did ship it, and you sold the machine he was expecting. The honorable thing to do would be ship his back...and explain you thought the deal had died due to lack of communication from him..

I once bought an item from Great Britian. I had to get a US Postal Money Order in British Pound Sterling, not USD. Most post offices cannot issue a US PO MO in foreign currency, at least not in British Pound Sterling. I had to order if from a major city PO. Then, I mailed it, paying international postal rates.

It took OVER A MONTH for the payment to be delivered to him. Most Post Office locations can sell you an "international" US PO MO to Canada with no problem. Done it several times. Can take three weeks to be delivered.

If you are dealing internationally, you have to be patient. If you haven't heard from him, you may see if you can send a certified letter, etc, to him, telling him that if you have not received the detector by, XXXXX, , or, heard from him that it was sent, you will put yours up for sale. Wait two, three weeks, and sell your detector.

Good luck,

Nestor
