no vdi number!!!

It means something is wrong. The display should always be telling you something. Other than the TID number, are the other icons there? Are you sure you are in a hunt mode? (either C/T or Prospecting) By "beep", do you mean you are passing the coil over a metallic object? If you give us a bit more information we may be able to help you figure it out. (mode, coil, settings etc) HH Randy

when i make air tests everything is okay

Sounds like either an electrical or ground interference issue. Most likely ground, if the airtests are OK. Setting the proper Noise Cancel channel and ground phase are necessary for the X-TERRA to operate properly. Try turning it on again, run the Auto NC and Auto GB as instructed in the manual. After you have selected the proper Noise Cancel channel and adjusted the ground phase, if it still isn't working properly, I'd suggest you turn it off, remove the batteries and let it set for a couple minutes. Then, install some fresh batteries, turn it on and do a mode factory reset (page 46 in manual). Then again, set it up using Auto NC and Auto GB. Keep your Sensitivity low when setting the ground phase as you can likely boost it up past the 15 once you "compensate" for the RFI and ground matrix. Let us know if this makes an improvement. JMHO HH Randy
