noise cancel ever notice

when noise canceling ever notice that the channel never changes, mine always stays on channel #5 is this common for this to never change? In my back yard I have
an electric meter for my home and noise canceled a few feet away from it and looked to see if the channel had changed it did not, I thought it would...been using the se pro
for over a year now and the noise canceling works great. It did work good for being next to the electric meter I will say that.

The only way that it would change would be if you were in an area with high power boxes running different frequencies or a lot of interference coming from multiple places such as power poles, underground cables, street lights, etc. that would make the detector choose a different channel to run on. I could be wrong since I'm not a genius on this subject but I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as your detectors capabilities and that it should be running perfectly fine. I have an Etrac and Noise cancel each time out. I either get 6, 9, 10, or 11. Depends which park or spot I'm at. Make sure your not over any metal objects in the ground when you do it for the best results. Sweep area first with your SE.

ive got the se pro and somtimes using my garrett pro pinpointer it interfears with my detector so i leave pro pointer on noise cancel again interfearence stops never did check channel number but it works and i still dig deep goodies

is to actually raise the coil off of the ground about a foot or so and then hit noise cancel, pointing detector in the direction of any power boxes or transformers near the area you are detecting at and make sure to hold it as still as possible. This way, it will pick up the interference and also your coil will not pick up any metallic objects in the ground making for the smoothes operating channel on your detector and getting the best possible results. These changes in freq and channels are very small changes. There are 28 possible harmonics in each channel and the machine doesnt use them all. Which may not require a channel change. Mine rarely changes as well... ive checked and like yours, my machine will quiet down when noise canceled. This tells me it adjusts within that channels.... should EMI get higher.... it will switch channels.

it is to raise it about 12" (30cm) parallel from the ground and obviously away from electrical interference or large objects in the ground.

There was some discussion on this subject a while back...but I can't find it.

Some were thinking a channel might be hotter or better for coins or relics etc....if it was ramdomly chosen.

According to all the experts I have spoken with...all it does is select the quietest channel.

I have the best luck noise canceling with my coil about 1" off the ground.

To be perfectly honest I might go 8 to 10 hunts without even noise canceling at all unless the SE starts to false some.

I'm definitely not saying you should do that...just saying I do it if I'm finding stuff each hunt. Guess I'm a little superstitious and don't want to "mess up the mojo" unless I have to

I only noise cancel if I notice interference, otherwise, I keep my detector on my favorite DEEP 'channel'.

I found another way to noise cancel Rich..... put it on probe and forget its there.... things quiet down and you get a real good thresh hold with an occasional beep

I try to noise cancel each time I turn on the detector but sometimes i forget. I haven't noticed much difference.

now I use mainly manual noise cancel, its faster and on channel 1 you can get better results between iron-but on some iron its starts sound like on good target. channel 11 is totally refusing iron , but good too if place not so old and allot rusty iron garbage. Stasys

I Noise Cancel 1 to 3 inches off the ground. Makes sense to me that that is closer where I actually swing the coil. Any body else cancel closer to the ground?

i set the coil right on the ground to noise cancel

simply its not any different where you keep your coil, on the ground or in the air, just in the air coil can pick more interference. noise cancel dont effect detectors performance its just founds more stable channel from number 11. usually with coil on the ground you can raise more sensitivity when coil in the air. iron under coil dont effect noise cancel if you use manual sensitivity.

I just set my coil right on the ground and make sure it isn't around junk or iron if I can.
