noise cancel

give it 30 seconds or so it will stop on the channel it likes .

John, are you outside when you try to noise cancel ? Like Randy said, it will take some time for it to settle on a channel it likes.

thank you, this a great forum. I've had my explorer 2 weeks live on a 30 acre farm central Illinois, the house was built 1886 there were farm houses every 40 acres they are all gone now. don't know if they had a lot of coins to lose haven't found any silver on my farm as of yet

Remember John, where ever people were, coins were lost. I'd be willing to bet you find some silver there somewhere.

John,

It should cycle through and give 11 beeps but will chose the quietest of the 11 to run. It is great to run if you are hunting with a partner with another Explorer. You have your hunting partner stop moving his machine and be fairly close (10 to 15 feet or so) and one of you run the noise cancel. That keeps you from having cross talk with each others detector as it will choose a different frequency than his.

Like you said they may or may not have had a lot of silver..... but ill bet you will find IHs, LCs and old coppers. That seemed to be the most common coins carried and lots. Keep your ears to the ground for large tones as well.... who knows they barried a lot of their money back then too.

My SE Pro beeps exactly 11 times, then one quick funny little noie and immwediately goes to ready to hunt. Count your beeps, Are you holding it a foot off of the ground?
Chuck Smith

why would you hold it a foot off the ground? it would seem it find the better channel setting on the ground like it would be when your swinging it. thanks

Chuck.... the manual says to hold it that high. Do we do it? Naaa im with you i hold mind the same height as im going to hunt.

I don't doubt you guys but does'nt it have more to do with adjusting for outside interference ?

Don't confuse noise cancel with ground balance. The explorers automatically ground balance. Noise cancel reduces EMI so why not cancel a foot off the ground? I noise cancel at hip level so I know I am only canceling EMI. JJ

that would be fine if you're going to swing the coil a foot off the ground but the emi you're trying to eliminate can be different at ground level than it is off the ground.

The Explorer manual says 30 cm...which looked to be about waist-high.

30 centimeters is about a foot. It's only waist high if you're 8 months old.

Ok...I meant to say knee-high. It was 6:30 am when I wrote that...give me a break. We don't use the metric system in this country anyways..
