Noise canceling the SE

EddieB

Member
How are you SE users performing the noise cancel? Using the Ex2 prescribed method or the method prescribed in the SE manual. Thanks for any feed back! EddieB

I'm new to the Explorer but on my SE I run the auto noise cancel--wish it didn't take so long--and then, if that's not clean, I manually look for a better channel.

According to the manual for the Ex2, you set the coil down on the ground of a clean location hit noise cancel. With the SE, the manual states you hold the coil steady 30cm off the ground. Thanks, EddieB

Yes Eddie, the Ex2 noise cancel was found to be incorrect...

I hold the coil further from the ground than the 30cm ( 1 foot. )
More like waist high for me !!!

And for me personally; I don't mind waiting for the 11 noise cancel cycles, and I usually allow the SE to chose the best channel.

I alway noise cancel at ground level, ("The level you are hunting at"). If you hold it higher you may pick up other noise than at ground level so when you go back to ground level it may not be correct.

If I use the slimline stock coil, I noise cancel as the manual states.
I have found that with the FBS1050 coil it works best if I noise cancel on the ground as described in the XS II manual. as my machine runs much smoother using this coil.
Now let me say that because this works best for me, doesn't mean it is correct or that it will work for everyone.
I think the reason the slimline needs to be off the ground is it is more prone to outside interference. Like power lines, radio waves ETC.

I thought it was stuff like you mentioned, power lines, cell phones, radio waves......that stuff. Or is it something else?

Thanks,
Neil

I noise cancel at hunting depth. The reason i do is that according to the manual the SE will set the operating channel when it noise cancels. To me that also meant it will set those random 28 frez based on the noise its receiving. IMHO where those frez's are set seriously affects rather the machine is operating closer to 1.5 kHz or 100 kHz. The closer your machine is set to 1.5 the better it handles minerals. The manual leaves lots to be desired in explaining how those frez's are set.
