noise level when sweeping

Hello all
I'm using the explorer XS ( or 2 ) since only one month . The used mode is the quick start because I have no time to study the manual mode for the moment.
I could find interesting coins with this mode and I rather happy except for the noise. When sweeping there is always a continuous noise level which is to high and after 2 or 3 hours I need to stop. The noise stops only when there is an undesired metal target at the vertical of the coil otherwise it's still noisy !
Does anybody know a tip or how to reduce this noise ?
Thanks in advance

From your description, are you talking about the threshold noise? (a constant hum). If that's the case, perhaps you're threshold setting is too high? It might be as simple as that. I normally set it to where it's barely audible.

I would suggest that you try to find some time to study the manual... it'll make things a lot easier and more enjoyable. This is one machine that takes a bit of time and effort to learn but it'll pay of in the end.

There are three white buttons on the right side of the screen. Press the bottom one until the threshold (hum) is where it is just barely audible. You really need to read the manual......Aaron

Yes it sounds like your threshold hum. Follow the last two post if that is what it is.
This is yet another reason to buy from your Local dealer, or someone that you can get support from. Sometimes we find that in buying a new brand of detector can be a real Challenge and need someone to just go and ask.

yes turn down the threshold volume till its just audible.. on the XS the lowest audible may still be too high but you cant turn down the headphone volume a bit as well.. Also there is a setting for threshold tone.. I find the lowest tone setting of 1 is the most pleasant to listen too
