Nokta Legend 2 Finds Using V1.02 Software

I was able to update to V1.02 software on February 6, 2026. That public version software really changed how Legend 2 performed in the high magnetite mineralization conditions where I often detect. All target IDs especially low and mid conductors, became much more stable and there was no more low and mid conductor high tone falsing. V1.02 also stabilized ground balancing and even improved EMI handling.

So, since February 6, 2026 I have hunted exclusively with the Legend 2 and 11" round coil. My Manticore and Deus 2 have received a well earned rest for the last 3 weeks. I missed one week of hunting also during that time due to weather and traveling.

My basic settings for Legend 2 have been Park M1, A disc pattern, sensitivity 23 to 25, recovery speed 4 or 5, bottle cap reject 0, iron filter 1, audio gain 1, ground suppression 0, deep target 1 or 2, iron volume level 2, 6 tones setup so that iron, small foil, US nickels, US zinc penny, US clad dime/copper penny and US quarter each get a tone bin.

Legend 2 has done very well in my opinion.

Many of the silver targets were 8" or more deep. The large gold ring was 5" deep.

These were all found in public parks where very careful selective digging with no shovels allowed is a requirement.

Melt value by weight and purity as of 2/28/2026 for the gold and silver items is $853 US.

Oldest coin is an 1889 USA Liberty Head nickel. That is fairly old for the Denver Colorado area since Colorado became a US state in 1876.

During these hunts I also recovered over $50 in USA modern clad coins.

Yes, I happily dig modern clad coins. Money is money and I will take it anyway that I can get it, even zinc pennies.

Nice finds.
I may have to trade in my Legend 1.
Is it really that much better ?
It took a while during the final testing for me to warm up to Legend 2. Most of the slow start with it was software stuff and the coil issue that was talked about by Nokta publicly back in December. The final testing production unit that I have now with the public release software really is excellent. The only thing I like better about my old Legend 1 compared to Legend 2 is the hand grip. The improvements are not gigantic as far as performance but they are real. The improvements in the build, shaft system, user interface, audio quality, keypad….I could keep listing stuff but just believe me they are substantial.

Soo,

Should I not waste my money on the 2 ?

I have to many machines at present I just can't seem to part with.
Even though I'm so disabled I can't get off my property too detect.

In your experience.
What update on the Legend 1 do you feel was the best ?
I think I have the 7 something.

Do you still have it ??

Have you done a comparison on an old test garden or checked target's side by side in the ground comparison ???

I would Love to know you're result's and thoughts.

I Loved its abilities on coins on edge.
Surprised me actually.

Thinking of gifting it to a great old friend.

About all I can really do anymore is Enjoy others Adventures.

Sorry you can’t detect like you want to.

I do detecting in really high mineralization including gold prospecting and relic hunting at gold prospecting sites in machine gun iron and mineralization conditions so any opinions I give are based on that. I rarely use a metal detector in mildly mineralized ground.

Legend 2 is an improvement over Legend 1 for gold prospecting, for relic hunting in high iron mineralization with 1800s forged iron trash, in thick modern aluminum trash and for stable target IDs and audio on deeper targets than Legend 1.

Plus, it is way more fun to operate and swing.

If any of that applies to you and you think you might be able to detect more someday, then maybe you should consider upgrading your Legend 1.

My favorite beach on lake Erie is incredibly mineralized.

Fairport Harbor, Painsville OH.

Across from the Coast Guard station.
Every other time I go there they run some kind of high power radar making it impossible for any machine to run
Sometimes I feel their "Watching Me"
LoL

The Grand River which is on its east side.
Has been a shipping port for over a hundred fifty years.

Originally iron ore shipped in for the steel mills.

So much iron dust my MXT shows 98% iron content.
You can see it blowing across the white sands on a Windy day.
Most machines won't go 5-6 inches because of it.

Haven't had the opportunity to run the Legend or Manticore there.
Haven't been there in almost 4 years now.

Found my Tesoros actually run better than any of my high dollar machines I own.
They see through Iron better than any machine I've Ever used.

Recently bought an Axiom with 4 coils.
Giving that to my little brother in Alaska.

Love to run that there even just a few minutes just to know how a PI would run there.
Actually never seen a PI used there.
Many Minelabs though.

Any tips on Hot ground I would greatly appreciate in hopes I get this spinal problem fixed before I die.
