Not liking my e-trac

I have my e-trac for a forntight now and hate it! i seem to be picking up nothing but bottletops and metal i have an Explorer great, excalibur great e-trac not making sense at all i will be getting rid of it real quick.

Try during a fortday, instead of a fortnight. It's hard to find good items detecting when it's dark out.

I guess I'm not understanding this post Maureen. You made almost an identical post 6 years ago about the Explorer.

"Hi all, Tha last time i went to the beach with my new beaut Explorer 11 i just about tossed it in the ocean, nothing but bottle tops and background noise was driving me crazy.I just cleared it with noise cancel and waited yet anoth 30 seconds for peace and quiet only to the same all over again minutes later. In the end i went home and haven't been out since. I guess i am not understanding the setting"

I believe there would be plenty of guys running the E-Trac from Austrailia that would help you out. You already have the Excalibur for the beach. How does the E-Trac react on the same coins in your test garden compared to the Explorer? You evidently stuck it out with the Explorer and "didn't toss it out".

Ive been running my etrac for a couple months now and have never dug a bottlecap. with my other machines I dug a ton of them. Couldnt even tell you what they come in as for a signal on the etrac.

Have you ever been on the ET Forum looking for assistance?

It is clear you have had experience with several detectors but you went to the ET

A few weeks and your done!

It is fine that it may not be a "Fit" for you but what is your purpose for this post?

Either ask for help or just go your way, no need to "Dis"

Good Luck

I always have to laugh at these types of dramatic posts with no substance. If one truly needs help this forum and it's members will and always has provided an abundance of help/coaching to those who ask.:twodetecting:

Do a factory reset and run only the stock coin program. The bottle caps usually come in from 38 to 40, very seldom if ever above 40.
But I usually dig those numbers because the old wheat pennies and Indians come in about the same.

If you are finding bottletops its because they are there and if you try to disc them out you will miss out on a lot of good targets . I have had all the Explorers and the ET and now the CTX and they are all the same.
Do not disc too much and remember that the screen is set up different on the ET , i find that if you are finding bottletops then you will not miss silver coins and rings.
Here in Britain they come in at the same as Pound coins at times.
If you sell the E.Trac and go back to the Explorer then all you will be doing is going backwards and it means losing money on selling and costing money buying another Explorer. And the Explorer is going to be a
discontinued machine at the end of the year and in due course without support in years to come.
Stick with the E.Trac . You will regret selling mark my words.

WARNING WARNING .......... if you metal detect you will have to dig trash sometime.......... THIS HAS BEEN A E- TRAC USER ANNOUNCEMENT ............

You should sell the etrac and get a v3i and leave the silver in the ground for everyone else......did i say that

Yeah, those E-Tracs are junk. I'll take it off your hands for a fair $200 and you can take that money and put it towards something that actually works without trying, like one of those long-range gold locators with the calculator on top. Alternatively, I could sell you a program that eliminates all trash and only finds gold and silver....guaranteed, yeah that's it, guaranteed....

I recommend finding a hunting buddy who has an Etrac. Also, watch plenty of Youtube videos.

Don't give up! I find plenty of coins. I use the roman coin pattern 99% of the time. Don't be scared of the tones.

Also, learn about two tone ferrous.

Two (2) weeks in is not really long enough to understand the detector, it took me 3 months to get to grips with the E-Trac, and I was digging every signal I hit. Bottle tops and foil is going to be one of the things that the E-Trac (or any other detector) will find unless you discriminate it out in the settings, but if you do that, you will not find some of those gold rings and silver items that lock in at the same numbers. Digging the trash is part of the game.

Detecting should be considered as an adventure and every good find as a surprise not every bad find as a dissapointment !
