Well Hi All I got the maybe Silver Pocket Watch cleaned and opened to me it don't look like Its solid silver think it looks plated there's a name on the face that reads I think Elgin in fancy letters on the back plate it has the words Warranted B&B Royal 20 Years and numbers 666217 that's all I know if any one has A thought Let me know would like to hear any thoughts on it if it is plated silver its real thick plating cause I seen on one of the sides of the outer part small piece flaked off here's some Pics thanks for any info and looking HH

I have that (what appears to be) same non dug watch.
It was my grandfathers. Mine is plated and looks identical.
The one I have is mint and works with a value of about $60 so, sadly if it is the same its not worth a whole lot.
You can look up manufacturing dates info here.

Goldensilver, I am guessing from the corrosion inside the cases you took off it probably plated. If you can get your hands on a reproduction of the 1897 Sears and Roebuck Catalog there is a section devoted to pocket watches that gives a lot of really good information about how they made the cases by sandwiching the metals to produce the plated cases. Lots of great information in the catalog about a lot of neat old things . Ezra.

goldensilver; according to the complete price guide to watches; ( the collectors bible ) the serial number of your watch places it as being manufactured between DEC of 1896 to early spring of 1897. the configuration of the movement identifies it as a model 8, size 16. The pieces of the case make it a "hunter case" one of the more desirable case styles. the warranted 20 years, refers to the warranty on the silver plating. Yes it is plated, but very good plating. as far as the B&B Royal part goes that doesn't quite jive with the historical info. on elgin watches. It was quite common to engrave the name of the craftsman that made the movement on the inside of the watch but B&B Royal doesn't appear in any of the lists. Could the corrosion make it hard to read and it actually says B.W. Raymond? If that is the case then that model watch in working order with normal wear would be worth around $200.00 nice find!
