Okay, so I finally broke down and bought a digital camera. Took photos of my latest/greatest find. go to post it and it said something like the image is too big. Okay, so I go to the digital imaging forum looking for help but all I can find are people's pictures of flowers, flags, etc........ Could anybody tell me if there is anyway to reduce the size of my photo's so I can post them? I will tell you up front that I am not the greatest when it comes to computer stuff. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.........

Jeff

https://www.google.com/search?q=Free+picture+resizers&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&client=firefox-a ...... One of these programs should help you out . I use a Kodiak camera and I can go into menu and set the size pictures I want my camera to take I set mine for e-mail size and that works ok for a web site posting size also . I'm no professional eather but maybe this will help till someone else can give you better help . There is a Digital photo area futher down on this web site that can get you some better professional help with the camera's also. Also if you got a new camera it should have a owners manual with it telling you all that information . Ok hope this helps you solve your problem .

I went to microsoft and found a program to resize my photos. I tried photobucket, but never could figure it out. Guess I'm hopeless.
It was called power toys for XP and had image resizer included.

Check your camera owners manual. There should be a way to set your camera so that It uses fewer pixels (makes the picture smaller) so that you can post them. For me it is much easier to set the camera than it is to try to get them made smaller on some web site.

I e-mail the picture to myself at one of my accounts and then outlook Express shrinks it for me and then I save it to my desktop and then upload it.

I use a free software program called Irfanview.
I have used it for years now with no problems.
No virus at all. It's free. You can open the program,
select your photo from your scan disk, and shrink it to any desired size.
Very easy to use.

Just as Robert, I've been using Irfanview for about 3 years now and no complaints. In fact, someone here referred it back then.

I have to agree with using Irfanview. All sorts of photo editing software exists, but much of it is hard to use and expensive. Irfanview is easy to use and free to boot. I'm not sure about the high-end, fancy-pants effects it has, but for basic editing, it rocks.

Ditto on the Irfanview. It can re-size and has automated functions to sharpen and correct color (or manual correction if you dare... :) ) Load the add-on pack and it can even read several different RAW formats directly from Nikon, Canon, etc. cameras It is also good for changing formats. With a little practice, it is a very easy and useful photo tool. Another cool thing is it has a function to make a proof sheet from a whole file of photos...
