...Over the weekend, there was a memorial for a man';s wife that died the week before...I was not there;but I guess the Church was packed;I guess the amazing part was when a woman got up to sing"Amazing Grace"-I guess she made quite the impression-But not the one you would hope for.....My 85-year old neighbor called it"atrocious".while her neighbor labeled it as "HORRIBLE"....WHY do people insist in gettin up in front of people when they cant carry a tune in a basket???We need more Simon Cowells around;I guess.....

they make a joyful noise unto the Lord. The rest don't matter! :) :nopity:

he said we should be singing joyously in our spirit to the Lord always. He went on to say he has heard a lot of people singing out loud and they really should just stick to singing and praising the Lord in their spirit

We have a church member on the praise team who does not sound too well to the ears of us who sing with him. I had once thought that maybe someone should take him aside and be honest with him but I think God had a different plan.

There is a movie I saw called "The Legend of 1900" it has way too much profanity but otherwise good. It is the story of a baby born on a cruise ship and is found in a crate under a table after a 1900 New Year's eve party on the ship. He was raised on the ship by the crew. He was probably 10 years old and watched the piano player as they had dancing on the ship. He saw all the happy people dressed up and having a great time and he just became a natural. He sat at the piano in the middle of the night and woke up the ships Captain and many others as he played marvelously on the piano. He never had a single lesson - just picked it up.

He never left the ship. Later in life maybe in his late 20s he was encouraged to leave the ship in New York. He decided he would do that. Docked in the New York harbor, the man walked half way down the gang plank towards land then stopped and looked at New York from one end to the other. He turned around and went back on board...still never feeling dirt under his feet. He was asked why he came back on board ship. This is his explanation...

As I stood there looking at all those buildings and all those streets, it was like looking at God's piano. I could never play God's piano because it has too many keys. So I came back to what I know on this ship. (And of course on the ship he was a master at playing the piano.)

OK what does this have to do with singing horribly? Imagine God's piano, imagine all the notes it could possibly play and somewhere on those keys is a note for each of us. We may not like the sound we hear, the notes might be too high or too low or something we never heard but possibly to God's ears each of our voices is special and has a special sound that He loves.

Just my thought on the subject.

God bless all those who want to sing praises to our Lord,,,may God bless them all with perfect pitch

All our gifts aren't the same, some have the gift of singing - just not the practice to make it sound appealing.

Amen

As long as it is pleasing to the Lord. I can't judge those who can't sing very well, as I can't carry a tune in a basket either.

Not all can sing but have many other talents! I am not a singer and never was musically inclined...while many can hear the tune played once on a piano, guitar or any other musical instrument and play it as if they practiced for years! Talent is a gift from the Lord and He gives talents to each of us as He sees fit to give them, but if we want more gifts than He says to ask for them and if we want the better or best gift than we are to pray and ask for them, but that doesn't mean we shall receive those gifts, if we don't have the talent for singing, playing an instrument, writing poetry and any other that requires some knowledge and ability to do it! I have written songs for the Lord, but being not much of a singer and, I've always been bashful, because of something happening in school while I was a young child: so even though I try, I just make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Now my two brothers and one sister can or could sing but not me!!!!!  God Bless! Betty

I agree Mike sometimes GOD wants to test us and see if we will do what he tells us to do.
