NOTCH GROUND Help

Need a bit of help on what NOTCH GROUND does.

It seems like all the programs except Goldfield have the NOTCH GROUND activated for 85 to 90.

What does this mean?

The NOTCH GROUND option was added to address hot rock issues at some sites . . . . but these sites are the minority versus the majority.

The default rejection window is what was always there just not adustable.

If you went over a hot rock that say registered "87" in terms of mineralization, you likely never even knew it since the 85 to 90 block was eliminated.

Now if you went over a hot rock that registered say "82", you would get the response people found on hot rocks.

If you find yourself in a site where hot rocks are issues, you can either use one of the various tricks to identify and ignore them or activate the new NOTCH GROUND option to encompass the area where the specific hot rocks in your area are coming in.

NOTE: This is NOT the same as discriminating / notching out that same number range . . . one is ground / mineralization value and the other is target ID value.

MOst users will probably never need to use this option or only on the rare occasion that hot rocks outside the default window are detected.

The reason it is not active initially in the GOLD FIELD program - although you can adjust it the same way as in the other modes - is that one has to be careful in rejecting hot rocks to ensure small gold or even meteorites are not also rejected . . . . this is where testing some targets in the area you will be searching will help define what the best setting is to ensure small, mid-range non-ferrous targets are not rejected.

Hope this helps

Andy
