I bet the little kids give you a double take when they see you. You look a lot like Santa with that white beard? Do you ever get told that?? I BELIEVE in Santa Claus! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
 
At Christmas of 1953 we lived right across the road from Cason Baptist church and on Friday night before Christmas the ladies in the church had a party for the small kids. They had talked "Phoney" Hoots into playing Santa and one of the ladies had made him a Santa suit and a bag to put a bunch of small toys in that he was to pass out to the kids. For some reason Phoney couldn't be there and they were stuck without a Santa.
When my father came home from work three of the women came over and begged him to play Santa. He didn't want to but finally agreed and they brought the Santa suit and bag. Phoney was about 5' 6" with short arms and legs and weighed maybe 160, daddy was 6' 3" with long legs and arms and was around 240 so there was no way the Santa suit was gonna fit. When daddy put it on the sleeves only came down to his elbows and the legs to just below his knees. While they were putting the Santa stuff on him I walked over to the church to see what kind of Santa he would be.
My dad had a big, somewhat rough voice, and talked way too loud, so I was interested in how the little kids would react to him as Santa. By the time he got to the church the kids had been waiting for almost an hour and were impatient, but that was about to change. Daddy burst through the doors like King Kong, slamming them back against the wall, and yelled <B>HO, HO, HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS!</b>, at the top of his voice. Only a couple of buttons would actually button on the Santa coat, he had his work brogans on under about a foot of bare legs and his cotton beard was twisted around to the side. He scared the bajeebus out of the kids. About half took out running and the rest grabbed their mothers and started crying. Dad tried to give toys to the ones that didn't run but all of them were way too scared to get anywhere close to him. I would bet none of them believed in Santa very much after that experience <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">.

your dad by! I did close to the same thing one time, except mine was at Halloween. At the time, I was teaching kindergarten and pregnant with my third daughter! I got my mother to make a witch's outfit for me, long flowing black dress, I bought a witch's hat, painted my face green, and used lots of black eyeshadow for my eyebrows and under my eyes. I straddled a real broom, and went galloping into my kindergarten class, and man, you should have seen them scramble. I felt so bad! I never knew I would look scarey at all, just "in the spirit of Halloween". It took a while, but in order to get them to settle down, I had to let them watch me as I took all the makeup off my face.
Come to think about it, a 8 month, pregnant, green witch would be frightening, especially to a five year old!
So, I can understand how your father felt! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
