As Elson would say....."life don't git better"
Of course she left that chore up to me while she got right down to business with her own IDX-PRO.

I also got me a pile o' square nails, some plinkers and what is either a log dog or the post half of a gate hinge.
Gotta git it electro cleaned to be sure.
With our house bein built in 1830 and two cabins here prior to the house you'd think we'd find some older silver here
I find old copper, large cents, but that old silver is still bein pretty elusive.
Hope y'all had jist as much fun today as we did.

Forgot too say Jim that most older sites specially colonial sites I dug would have some spanish silver but not all them...
Silver be silver course older be better sometimes :D

I found an area that had cabin(s) up on the surroundin hills before our house was built and so far it's given up some pretty cool finds. 5 LC's to name a few.
I have found spanish silver localy. A 1750 half REALLE that was allmost unrecognizable, ( and i lost it ) So i know there is the possibility o' findin more 'round here.
The spot that i found the REALLE had a livery and inn back in the 1700's and i am the first one to ever swing a coll ( that's southern fer coil) there. The owner is very adament about me bein the only one allowed on his land. I had to jist 'bout git an act 'o congress to get him to allow Janet to 'tect there with me. I sure wish he'd allow me to have someone else there with me. Some one that is better with a 'tector than me jist so i can see what the place has to give up.
It has trash pits, wells, bottle dumps etc etc.

I always found cool finds wandering around the mountains Jim :D
Loved the hike and fun and finds were the smile on my face...

My family house was Ca 1830 but the timbers were used prior too the house build and around the house was not much of really anything for all the years used...wheats,injuns,barber dimes...ya know the newer stuff...one old 1700's chinese coin was the oldest right around the house...
Now the farther away I got from the house the better the finds were :)...
1900s-1800s-1700s-1600s...

The cellar hole on the property was old and I found lots of good stuff there and including yer spanish silvers :D...but that place was not lived in for probably over 150yrs so soil was all original and unplowed...found the spanish silvers there near the creek bed :D

It's funny that you say this Brian. I have been spendin a lot o' time this past winter lookin out a 'certain' window here at the surroundin wooded hills and thinkin 'bout exactly what you said.
Our house was built in 1830 and yes, so far the close finds have all been 20th cent.
( at least as far as coin finds go)
I had to git into the woods to break into the 19th cent. I also found another bottle dump in the woods.
I have a big problem with searchin my woods tho.
We have wild rose bushes like you wouldn't believe here. They are so thick in the warm months that you cannot get thru them without serious tissue and blood loss  I've been tryin to dig 'em up a few at atime but that has no effect. They just resprout
a few feet away from where ya dug 'em. :ranting:
One thing in our favor tho is that these woods have never been logged so we have trees that are so old that they were big even 150 yeras ago. Those kinds of spots i would think would attract kids to play and folks to jist hang out there.
All in all, like you, i also believe there are goodies to be found here.
Also, like you, there can't be anything negative said 'bout takin yer 'tector for a walk in the woods.
