is there even a point in me keeping my garrett ace350? ive been thinking about finding a different backup machine so that i will have a little more diversity. what do you at pro users have as a solid back up or even just a change of pace machine? any input would be greatly appreciated. im a garrett man all the way, but i feel like im never gonna use the 350 again and its just gonna go to waste.

i could see this going in either of the garrett forums, but i figured this one was the most acceptable. if this is the wrong forum i apologise in advance. im not asking for what machine is the best, i just wanna know what you actually use as a backup or just a secondary machine to your at pro.

I don't have a 350, but it seems like a solid machine. Unless you need the money, I would say what the heck, keep it--it would be a great back-up machine. I have my first detector (Gtax550) as my spare. I haven't used it since I got my Pro, but I keep it around just in case. It's also nice to have a detector to let a friend try out with you...
 
Once I got the ATP I never looked at Ace-250 again. It sat in the closet. Then when I bought the VX3 the ATP became my seccond stringer and the ace was sold.But it's always nice to have 2 machines.I still use the ATP all the time. I keep the little sniper coil on it.HH
 
Keep it...an avid hunter should always have a backup. Also great when you have a buddy that wants to hunt with you but don't have their own machine.
 
im definately gonna keep a backup, but i was just thinking about instead of keeping a lesser quality of my primary detector, i should upgrade my backup so i can use a different type of machine if i want a change of pace. im thinking about getting a dmc2b for the depth but was wondering some other options of machine that might do certain things better than the at pro
 
I have an ace 250 that I started with. I upgraded to an AT Pro when they 1st came out. I was exclusively using the Pro until I had the water leak issue as many others had. When i sent it in for repair I figured I would get some experience with my Ace 250 and the sniper coil. I was amazed at what it could do in trashy areas. Now I carry both detectors in my vehicle at all times. The Pro as my primary and the 250 with the sniper as a backup when the trash gets unbearable.

I can't really help ya there, I bought my ATPro but came from the Whites line of detectors. I gotta say I agree with you, I really have no intention of using my Whites too often anymore. It does need repairs to it which I'm sure wont be too expensive, but for the last 3 1/2 weeks, the ATPro proved to me it can find keepers in heavily hunted areas. 90% of my silvers have been at the same ballfield / park that I hunt near my house. Its strictly my back-up machine now in case the ATPro needs to be sent in for repairs. Its been sitting in my bedroom collecting dust lol.
