Never seen this 'glitch' posted so tell me what you think.
Took a little hunt this morning to the local high school. Been wanting to hunt the ball field as it had just been plowed and rolled. May have brought up an oldie or two.
Searching in coin mode I got a signal on the dirt infield and centered the coil over the target. I went through my usual pinpoint process and got no signal at all.
My pinpoint function no longer works on bare dirt. What the *&%# ??
Now keep in mind I have paid for my Ace in just the pennies I have found over the years...Got a great understanding of this unit both as a brand and as this particular detector..
Checked all connections....naturally.
Inspected the batteries....new and fully powered
Did a brain re-set to return it to factory settings
Checked the coil and it was chip and crack free.
lifted coil up a bit....lowered coil down a bit
moved settings to all metal, jewelry and back to coin...Nada better
Headed out to the grass area and the pinpoint function is working better....not as good as usual but at least I can coax it into working. Had to find the right direction to get a response
Once it would function the de-tuning process was as sharp as ever
Can't stand the thought of spring being here and having my unit in the repair shop.
Anybody have a unit that works in grass and not bare dirt?????
Didn't think so......
Yes, I can send the unit in...great service
yeah, the brain probably has a glitch growing
Any other experienced Ace users ever stub their toe on something similar to this???
Also the unit has not been dropped, boiled or frozen and has been kept in my nice dry garage as always.
Did I overlook a fix somehow.
