I just sold my V3 and in the middle of buying a E-Trac. Ya I know not another one. I will right now I need some help. I am going to order A E-Trac. But I need to know what coil should I get with it. It comes with 11" coil so I need a small coil witch one is the best. I see the Minelab also has Commander coils any good or should I stay with the std. small coil.

and the 6x10 Joey coil does an excellent job in trashy areas too. I've been using the Joey pretty regular lately and it covers more ground than the 5" and 6" with amazing separation and depth. A few spots I hunt make the 5" almost mandatory! It sure is fun picking IH's out of areas so trashy you can seldom get a threshold tone! Love my Etrac!! Mike

Probably a little closer, I haven't really done any playground hunting with it but it only makes sense that it would. As far as I know MineLab only makes the 8" coil that is smaller than the 11" Pro coil. Only one I have seen advertised from MineLab. Mike

Any of the coils from these models will work on the E-trac.............Explorer(any), Quattro, Safari.

Many can also be picked up used if looking for a deal.

The stock coil is an excellent coil, you'll pick that up in the first few hunts.

On a site, once I've got all the coins I can get with the Pro coil, I'll switch to the Joey (5" x 10") and sqeeze out a few more. Joey has excellent seperation, good depth and the 10" length ensures you get a bit of coverage each swing.

Very happy with the joey......but the pro coil rarely comes off.

Cheers,
Greg

Well that good I would do that but I am going to get $150.00 voucher. I can use it only on Minelab stuff. I don't know how much time I have to use it but I can't see enthing to get for it. Well I have to weight for it to get here anyway. Hay I know maybe a back up battery what do you think.

Back up batteries for the etrac are a little on the expensive side! You could purchase tons of double a's for that price. I forget now it was like $90 and I regret it. Mainly because the battery it comes with lasts a long time. Also does not take long to charge. Overnight is fine. Unless you do alot of night hunting, etc where you will need the backlight alot I can't see the need for one. I think your best bet is a smaller coil. IMO Happy hunting and congradulations, the etrac will not dissapoint!!:detecting:

Ok so I will get the the 8" minelab coil. It comes with a lower shaft for $199.95 at kellyco. So I can use that Minelab $150.00 voucher and it will only cost me $50.00 out of pockit. That a steal I will look to see if I can find it cheeper but I don't think so. I will get it on friday can't weight. Thanks for everyones help

Make sure you read Andy's book, it will put you up the learning curve a lot quicker. Read it again after 50 hours or so, different parts make more sense as you gain experience.

Good luck and enjoy.

The Minelab 8" coil is actually 7 -1/2" in size. Have been using it with my E-TRAC and it works very well in parks.
