1. Start in DISCRIMINATE mode.

2. Hold your coil in the air and adjust the SENSITIVITY until the machine starts to chatter then back off approximatley 3 numbers (start at 90 - 95)

3. Perform GROUND CANCELLATION using FASTGRAB.

4. Set up your DISCRIMINATION LEVEL (Default)

5. Set up your NUMBER OF TONES (2+ mimimum)

6. Next go to the ALL METAL mode.

7. Set your SENSITIVITY as described above. This will set it for pinpointing.

8. Set the HUM LEVEL. Turn it up until it becomes stable (3-5)

9. Switch to MANUAL GROUND CANCELLATION and check the ground balance. Set it slightly positive. (HUM will become louder when you approach the ground).

10. Switch back to the DISCRIMINATE mode.

11. Exit out of the menu.

12. Dig some stuff.

In theory this should accomplish a couple of things.

1. It should properly set the Sensitivity for maximum performance based on the electrical interference in the area you are hunting.

2. It should help with pinpointing.

3. It should give you a better edge on small items.

4. Using at least two tones and low disc settings will allow you to hear some iron and provide better audio target separation.

why are you doing 3 then later 9? I'd guess just to get almost "on" in disc fastgrab GB and then set it at what you consider optimum in all metal manual GB? Personally, I skip 3 if I plan on doing 9 AND I've found that at least my T-2 (and F-75) works better at a spot on setting in manual GB (which actually sets it for both modes I believe) because FG seems to set it just a hair negative unless you're hunting with the coil a couple inches off the ground. I like to hunt with the coil no more than 1" off.

Going to manual ground balance first is fine. I just use fastgrab as a point of reference (default). Whenever you auto ground balance its a good practice to verify it mannually. The key is to manually ground balance slightly positive of neutral (not neccessary but preferable). According to the manual, your ground balance setting carries over regardless of what mode your in. If it didn't you could have some difficulty pinpointing.
