O.K. Here are the top secret pics of the newly redesigned T2...

...the T2 Custom. I really like the performance of the T2 but as we all know the quality leaves a lot to be desired. So, I decided to reverse engineer it to try and correct some of the design flaws. Basically, I just took it and put it on a White's rod assembly. Trust me, it sounds a lot easier than it was. I can tell you that now this thing is solid as a rock. Most if not all of the physical design flaws have been corrected. Next, I will solve the loose battery issue and will post a follow up. Sorry for the quality of the pics. Will try to post better pics if interested.

I'd toyed with painting my T2 black right after I got it, but have been too busy to worry about it so far...I might have to look at doing it again. How about some step by step instructions and a material list...this looks like a GREAT mod!

Ps- You ought to post this on the mod forum as well.

Beautiful mod Horsesoilder,

Everything looks sharp while keeping it well balanced.

The only area of concern is the Whites hand grip.....Compared with the T-2 grip, the T-2 grip is more designed to reduce hand and wrist fatigue. Honestly, Compare both and notice the human hand cups the T-2 grip with less hand pressure, Over long periods of detecting this will greatly reduce hand and in some cases less wrist/arm fatigue.

Still, A beautiful mod.

First of all well done with your engineering modification.

You obviously have a know how and tooling facility that most of us don't.

I have a UK T2 and apart from the faulty locking ring and a slightly wobbly bottom stem all is well.

FT offered to send me a replacement locking ring to my home and I have a latest specification bottom stem on its way from the UK supplier.

While I realize that the initial build quality left a bit to be desired the performance of the T2 is brilliant for a middle of the price range detector.

One other point I think its very smart appearance also helps with its sales, all we need now is a choice of a smaller coil.

I must have been lucky, as my T2 has been beat on for a year & I have not had one problem yet. Got the new lower rod & everythings cool.
You better be careful....that m0d looks so good your going to have everyone ask you to do them! :)
