"O" Ring On The Infinium or Mark II

Somebody had recently asked about what type of lubricant to use on the "O" ring used in the battery pack plug. Here's the response I recieved from Garrett:

"Hi John,

I checked the specs on our o-rings and found that this is high grade military type rubber called Nitrile Rubber. The statement on page 29 of the owner
 
Good thing to keep in mind, when you are going to store your detector for some lenght of time. After you remove the batteries
DO NOT tighten the cap with the o-ring down tight, just to where it is seated on to the o-ring but not squashing it and it will last
for years ( be sure to aply a coat of what ever kind of sealant on it you use so it will not dry out. )
