O what?

This appears to be an Letter o but on the back it has clasps holding the o on. does not make sense to me. was this used to put a picture of something in the middle of o and be worn on a kneckless? no idea.
 
I never want to discourage, but I have found these, I do not think they are old, or the elusive emblem for Company "O".
 
I have found many of these objects at old sites where i have found saddle parts,too. The closest thing I have found in researching have been purse eyelets, so it could be from a bag of some sort.
 
Hi Texas Ted, I always thought those to be a type of Gromet, maybe even a spare/replacement for those quick fixit/ do it yourself situations.Seems I remember finding them with canvas still attached. HH, Charlie
