Observation - the F75 coil doesn't seem to scratch . . .

I've put 50-60 hours in on the F75 w/ stock coil over ROUGH terrain -relic hunting in rocks,trees,sticks,thorns, glass, and who knows what else. I have not been gentle with it - banging trees and bushes out of the way. I have not used a coil cover. I've been scared to examine it - thinking I probably ruined it. I just cleaned it with soap and water, and by gosh there isn't a scratch on it!! How can that be? I'm really confused because all of my other coils are toast under these conditions.

Am I nuts or am I onto something?

Same here. I wish the rest of the machine was built as tough.

The stock coil is real tough - the little 6 shooter should have a cover in my experience.

I have 2000 + hours in behind my F 75 and switch back and forth between the stock coil and the small 6" one and don't use coil covers on either. Neither coil shows any scuffs and I am a scrubber. I mainly coin shoot, so hunt grass area's mainly, but many sites do have small rocks and of course, wood and tough weeds. The coils do appear to be very hardy. HH jim tn

That's good news. I just purchased an F 70 and now I wont get a coil cover. Saved me some cash. Appreciate all the input.
