Oct. Farm Field Finds With The 705 and The Digger Coil

Fields are getting harvested, opening up some areas that my hunting partner and I have been hitting 7-8 years now. The no till has resulted in the fields not being broken for 2 years, they just drill in the next crop. My hunting partner and I still hit the same sites again and again, as there is so much debris/trash from the homes that were torn down and the remains burned. We still pull some good targets regardless of the previously mentioned ground conditions. No silver and not a lot to show here, but I alternate between my 705 and my CTX. My favorite find here is the offset struck 1905 Indian and the two brass thimbles. One of the thimbles must be for a child, as it is considerably smaller than the "normal" size one. When I dug the Indian, it I thought it looked odd and once I got home and cleaned it up I could see why. Not a lot of value here, but still cool none the less.

That's an awesome indian. Either it was off struck or something pinched it after minting. Either way something you don't see every day.

Nice finds!

Those are some nice finds. I have been detecting for years and still never found a thimble.

Good finds! This sounds exactly like the hunting I've been doing. Farm fields with buried remains of houses, lots of work, digging lots of trash. I've been getting skunked at alot of these type of sites lately, and getting rather burned out. Thanks for the inspiration!

Love that offset Indian cent!

There is something satisfying about seeing a nice, green-colored relic or copper coin come to light after so long! Hunting old homesites has to be my favorite type of grounds...
