Octagon barrel.

Well-known member
Yes sir, I believe I have one the same as yours in my collection. This is an end cap to the wood stock of a musket. This piece was fitted underneath the barrel of the musket where the wood came to an end. The straight and of the piece was at the back, and the curved end was where the barrel actually rested down into the piece. The small rivet looking piece in the center was attached to the wood holding this piece in place. This piece helped to protect the end piece of the wooden stock as the wood was more narrow and smaller as it came to an end. Nice find and Save of the end cap and the CW lead. Congrat's.
