:ODST 9.1 it is on. Email from Fisher

Jim Tn is right, it really doesn't matter which is on and which is off.

If your not having EMI problems run either and your finds will be the same.

I am pretty much done with 9.0 and 9.1 DST.

My machine runs like a dream either way.

Good hunting guys,

Ron in WV

Elton could well be right. Anyway, I am with Ron and following him out the door on this one. Thanks again nalc472 for sharing your email from Arturo. Not much, but there is a slight difference in air tests and in-ground depth between 9.0 and 9.1. Thats why I'll continue to use 9.0. HH Jim Tn

Tom Dankowsi tested both settings and concluded that 9.1 provided slightly more EMI rejection than 9.0, but no big difference. He didn't state how the test was conducted. I just leave mine in 9.0 all the time. Usually run BP and the 5x10 concentric.

Mine appears to work like NASA-Tom's tests suggest. There's no way I could get quiet operation in 9.0 running Disc 0 and full Sens in BP mode with the 11" DD coil in the places I do unless there was some special sauce being utilized. My F70 won't run quietly in the same places with calmer settings even, and the pre-DST F75 LTDs wouldn't either I don't believe. But again, moot point as long as things are working as intended. Fisher hit a home run when they implemented DST on the F75.

And that's pretty much what I found as well. 9.1 slightly quieter and just a tad less deep then 9.0. I will state, however, my current LTD with DST does not get the same depth as my last LTD in any of the modes like DE, BP, and so on. Gained something and lost something, it appears. HH jim tn

It is like we are doing a treasure hunt trying to find the true meaning of the DST. Is it 9.0 or 9.1 is the question?

I'm still going with 9.0 off and if I and others are wrong, not enough difference one way or the other to make or break a hunt, IMHO. HH jim tn

Would it not be refreshing for someone in "authority" within FT to come on this forum and state once and for all WTF on and off is as far as DST is concerned--this is assuming that "they" actually know.

The fellow that sent the email, Arturo Barrientos, is a F T representative, it appears. HH jim tn

It is what it is. We only can go by what the factory tells us.
