OFFICIAL UPDATE ON HUNT:crylol:

Sorry that we have been slow getting info out on the details of the upcoming hunt, but I assure you we are in the planning stages of what will be an awesome weekend! Guvner, Golddigger, and I are fitting the planning of this event around our busy schedules so it will take a little time, but we are dedicated to finalizing all the details of this hunt as soon as possible. We are getting lodging, entertainment, dining, meeting room, picnic facilities, meals, and registration info worked out. Oh yeah... we are also putting together some great seminars and some good local sites for practical demonstrations of hunting with the Explorers.

If anyone has any suggestions on what subjects you would like to see covered in a seminar, please let us know. We are outlining some very comprehensive material, and I hope we touch on all possible points, so your input is definitely welcome... after all, this is your time and money invested in this event and we want you to come away with your money's worth and more. The weekend will include seminars on both days and hunting in the field with live, "real world" demonstrations. We also plan on attendance prizes, raffles, and other surprises.

We will be covering the Explorer XS, II, SE models and several of the available accessories and coils available for them. Guvner may be lining up people for seminars on other brands and models, so stay tuned... I also have a seminar on "advanced coinshooting" in the works. I promise that this one will be worth the entire trip, as there will be 70+ years of experience between the 3 of us going into an extensive and informative education on how to get the most success out of your coinshooting, no matter what machine you use or how experienced you are. I personally am going to do my best to make this seminar stand out above all other "advanced coinshooting" seminars you may have attended in the past.

Our main base of operations will be at Forest Park in St. Louis which is the 3rd largest urban park in the country, established in 1876, so there is a lot of ground to cover and the potential for great finds still exist out there. We will also line up other equally good local parks and other sites to give you a chance to apply what you learn in the seminars. We will have a shelter for seminars and meetings out there or an indoor meeting room in case of bad weather. This weekend will go, rain or shine, but we will do our best to have a flexible schedule with the classroom time and hunt time to get you out hunting in the best weather possible.

I am also looking into lining up some dining options and evening entertainment. I have organized conventions here before for other clubs and a popular option was hitting one of the local casino complexes here - fantastic buffet food, live music, clubs, and gambling. I will also put together a pamphlet of sites to see and things to do in the St. Louis area, so if you want to bring the family or a non-hunting companion along, we'll find plenty to keep them busy while you attend the seminars and hunts. Forest Park is home to a world-class zoo, 3 major museums of art, history, and science, boating lakes, dining, 3 golf courses, several fitness trails, wildlife viewing trails, great scenery for walking and photography, and many sight-seeing opportunities, so you or your family has plenty of non-hunt related activities to do only minutes from our "base". Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated.

We've held some get-togethers in the past from the Finds Forums and we always seemed to have a great time meeting the other detectorists, forming some friendships, and having fun.

Check back often, as we will keep you up to date on the events as they unfold. Please respond to this post with any questions, suggestions, or PM me. Take care and hope to see you here, Mike Moutray.

Wasn't there a firm date? I seem to have misplaced it. If you are keeping record of those coming, add me to the list.

Just tell the wife that the finds might even be a womans gold jewelry. :)

Guvner..
