While Ken had some very nice finds, I did very well too. First coin was a 1945 Mercury dime...KA-CHING. Scored a bunch of Wheaties...in fact there was 7 in one hole!!!! The Wheaties were: 1935, 1937, (2) 1946, 1949, 1950-D, 1951-D and (2) 1953-S. Got two quarters ( 1977 and 1983) and a Memorial 1974 penny too.

Like I say that field is a producer.

We started getting pretty hot in the sun and we also thought we had better get out of there since the guy with the riding lawn mower arrived to cut the grass (so we cn detect easier).

Anyone want to come up and hunt this field with me I am more than glad to share.

Even Steve (warthog) didn't walk away empty handed on Saturday.

just have to find a moped that gets 100 MPG!!! All joking aside I will get up there some time! Congrats on the finds!

we figure it will cost around $150 just in gas to go to the hunt and back with gas prices the way they are.

...I wonder if they had grandstands or bleachers out near the road facing the field;or at the back of the field;facing the road? And if the reason so many items were found at the ends they had;whatever end the bleachers were on;at the opposite end they had tents set up for some kind of celebrations (End of WW2???The Korean conflict??)Or a traveling carnival stopped there;with booths where people lost their coins on the ground???All the pennies I found were from 1941-1953- OR;Maybe the area toward the road where the goodies were found was the parking lot.....:wave:In any event;that field has POTENTIAL....I JUST BET someone lost their gold jewelry in there;waitin to be found.....

talked to the owner of the house who also graduated from the school in the 40s. I asked about the layout of the ball diamond. He said he used to play left field and at times the ball would go across the road. Can you picture that in your mind Steve? I really need to sit down with this gentleman and get a map/drawing made of the way it was...before he passes on.

We did have a nice chat the other day but was cut short as a buddy that fishes came by to chat about fishing.

Supposed to be thunderstorms up here for the rest of the week. I'll take it. Love those thunderstorms with their rolling thunder and the ground needs the watering again.

BTW I won't be making the CMD Hunt after all. Other 'responsibilities' require attention over 'pleasure'.

hitch hike! Everybody would pick up santa!

doc was afraid I'd cut myself shaving and bleed all over the place I guess.

So no hitch hiking Santa this week.
