Ok fellas.. this ones for you safari users....has anybody experienced...

any annoyning features about the detector that totally turned you off using the detector, or made you regrett buying it??? Or have the experiences been over all positive on the unit?? I'll be upgrading in the spring, and this is my 1 of 2 choices...Hows she run on a salt-water beach?/

I will never get the chance to beach hunt with it, but so far I'm getting the hang of it. Not so much a learning curve that I thought, just getting use to the sounds that it makes. Not too convinced that "Cross Saving" Ferous & Non Ferrous modes are any use to me, but the jury is still out as I only have about 10 hours on the machine and still "Tweeking" it to my soil in this area. It does seem to handle more mineralization in my soil than a single freq machine will, works smoother on higher gain.
Andy's book on the Quatro is a must have for the Safari as he gives a little more info than the manual does. I think the Safari would be a great choice for any style hunting out there MO

My only dislike was the limited ID Numbers.. Detector worked great..... Segements were a little broad thats all.

I own a Safari and F75. The summer before last I took the F75 to Newport beach for vacation. The F75 worked great in the dry sand, but couldn't handle the heavily mineralized black sand. So I ended up getting a Safari as a second detector. In August I bought a 15" WOT coil for the Safari and hit the Del Coronado beach in San Diego for a couple of hours each night over four days. Although I didn't find any jewelry, I was impressed with how smoothly the Safari ran at high sensitivity in the wet sand and shallow water. It did get consistent false signals at an ID of 10, but I rejected (notched out) that number and didn't have any more problems. One annoying thing about it is that pennies frequently come in at 37 & 38, which is in the quarter/dime range. Overall, I really like it with its power and simplicity.

I love mine, the beach was the second place I took it. Had no problems at all was right there in the wet sand pulling coins out pretty deep.

My only regret abut my Safari is that I really want an Etrac now... Minelabs detectors are great. Safari will take you a bi to get usedto and know what your hearing and seeing but it's a great all round detector. Will be excellent on beach.

As soon as I can it's the more complicated Etrac for me..

I wasn't sure about... I was hoping the screen set-up was similar to the explorer, but it seems to be a numeric set-up only.( don't think that will refine targets good enought )??... Not sure now, gonna have to see one face to face now.... Still gotta few months till the ground get soft again.

I wouldn't consider myself an expert even though I have been TH on and off for the past 30 years both in the US and the UK. I have used most of all the major brands available in that time. About three months ago, I decided to upgrade from a Sov GT to a Safari. Living in FL, I am hunting the beach 100% of the time. I have no regrets about my decision. It is a very easy machine to master and works great in the wet sand. I was very fortunate to make two nice finds within the first month. I have no doubt that my GT would have found them also since the GT is still a fantastic beach machine.
