Left out early Wed. morning and got to Vernon's around 3. Just enough time to get in about 5 hrs of detecting. Got out of the truck and got my first target in a short time. A nice 58 cal minnie
Cooter and I were so intent on detecting we forgot to get a bunch of pictures...here's Vern with our many friends in the field
Here's a nice find I got while at Vernon's
A pulled bullet
After a 2 day whooping by Cooter on his home field
I had to leave and head north. Thanks for the fun Vernon..hope I can get a re-match sometime
I had a great time again visiting with you and your family
We got started at DIV early Friday morning...it was pretty cool on top of that mountain. Here's a pic of one of the views.
Day 1 saw a lot of plates being dug. Here's one of my hunting buddies..Doc Watson with a great find..a full bayonet
Here's a pic of my other hunting buddy Keith Zorger best find a Corp badge
The rest of Keith's finds
I saw a lot of neat stuff that had been dug for the 3 days...here's a few of those that I saw
A cool pipe
An Awesome and very rare Virgina belt plate
And one of the coolest things was seeing this close up
A closer look

Now for my digs
Here's some of my bullets and misc. finds. Before anyone says anything, I did not include all the modern bullets that I dug.
It was fun digging each and everyone.
There is also a dropped Sharp's and a fired one.
I also have to tell you that after lunch on Saturday I decided to look for brass and buttons instead of bullets.
Some of the buttons
Although a lot of buttons were dug they were in mostly bad shape. I had several just fall apart
Some of the better buttons
A Eagle I cuff, A officer staff, and a NY officer cuff button
I even managed a 1863 fattie which if it hadn't been in the field would be in awesome shape.
All in all, it was a great 5 days of detecting and I hope to get the chance to do it again this fall.
