Not sure if the buckle is CW. Having trouble finding an exact match.
The button says Birmingham’s Arm....can’t make out the rest.

I’d love any input on this thing. I’m having a hard time finding a good match. I’m heading out this weekend to see if I can find the rest.

It’s most certainly stamped brass. Which is kinda messing with me. Weren’t most of these cast? I also can’t find another example with that shape of inner cam lock.

I found it within maybe a few hundred yards of defenses. I also recovered a .38 pistol bullet, some pieces of little pewter one is a reed. (see pic), a couple of those little buttons.
And this oddity from about 9” down.

Your buckle, since it’s smooth and not a wreath, could possibly be part of a US artillery buckle. Some had the smooth tongue and some had US on it

Very awesome finds, Iowa!! Not an expert, but the buckle looks money. Could it be a pre-war? Really good stuff.
Wonder if the jar was geocache? Was sorta creepy though. Nice job, sir!!

Well I wasn’t successful at locating the tongue of the buckle today. My partner did well with a little flat tombac and a sterling baby spoon with an unusual bent handle. I got a couple old marbles and a little pewter decorative piece. Some brass whatsits. We did scout a couple decent new spots though. So that’s good.
