Ok, I just ordered a 12 x10 SEL coil for my GT! One question:

I hip mount my GT and I need a full length cable to do that, and, because the cable on the stock SEF is only 62", it looks like I will be using an extension cable. So, have any of you, who are or have used the SEF with an extension cable ever experienced any problems with that setup? Thanks for any and all replies.

I am 6'3'' and use the SEF 12x10. No problem for me with the stock cable. I bought the unit used and it had a coiled extension cable that I have used without a problem, but it seems cleaner to me without the extension and I have plenty of cable. The only reason I may use the extension is reduce the wear on the plug. Even looped through the belt loop it looks like it gets some tension hooked directly to the box.

Are they in stock now? They didn't have any the last time I checked. I was concerned about the cable length also but Critter said he could chest/hip mount his without any problem. By the way, I like the cable restraints you sent. It helped with securing the cable when I add my meter to my belt when hip mounting. Thanks!

Since you hunt some of the same type of beaches and conditions as I do here on the west coast I may just hold of until you give it a complete run. Our conditions are not the same as Critters so your evaluation would give me a better idea.
