A husband / wife detecting team and friends of mine sent me this photo of beach water finds ready to be taken / sent to a smelter.

Pictured in the photo are 703 gold rings, 88 gold pendants, 19 gold ear rings, 2 gold lockets, 1 set of gold teeth, 8 gold bracelets, 18 gold chains,
8 gold crosses, and 8 gold "bangles". This 3.6 Kilograms / 3600 grams (approx 7.94 pounds) of mostly 18 Kt. gold is being sent to a smelter.

The photo does not include almost a couple pounds of gold jewelry with precious stones that are worth far more than melt value.

They figure the hobby easily pays for the fuel to get to their detecting sites and perhaps enough left over for lunch and dinner.

Who says this hobby does not pay for itself.

That is TRULY amazing.

They both are very dedicated hard working hunters. They will be in the cold winter time water wearing dry suits with a snowmobile suit underneath to keep them warm. They will hunt 8 to 10 hour days if the waves aren't crashing in.
