I got my F5 in the mail today and of course it was raining so I only got about an hour or so with it between showers. I was really impressed with the F5 in several different areas. First of all I loved the coil. In the pictures that I have seen it looked really big and I was wondering how it would get any target separation. The separation was amazing. I got a weird signal that was going from zinc to dime and i could hear a tone change when I moved the coil very slightly. I dug the signal and found 2 pennies and 1 dime all in the same plug. I was very impressed at that point. I wanted to see how good the F5 was on nickels and again I was impressed. I dug 4 nickels and was only fooled one or twice by a tab. I dug a couple of tab signals and sure enough they were tabs. There were so many zinc signals that I had to stop digging them because I was limited in time and wanted to find some high tones. I ended up with 2 quarters, 6 dimes, 4 nickels, and 14 pennies and a few trash items. I dug the can top at around 10 - 12 inches just because I needed to know there was something there. Overall, I loved the F5. I still have some things to learn about the ground balance compared to the phase readings and some of the fine tuning between gain and threshold but I know that will come in time. I ran the detector today at 85 gain and -2 threshold and it was nice and smooth as long as the coil was moving. As it has been mentioned in several posts, I got some chatter while I was digging or pinpointing but the minute I picked the detector up and moved the coil it quietened right down. I only found clad today but I am confident that this detector will bring me lots of good finds in the future. Thanks Mike and everyone else for all your posts and help on the F5.
