Old coins in the woods

Oldguy

New member
Yesterday I hunted a wooded area with a history I though may have some older coins in it. Within a half hour I hit 7 coins all within a small area. Not quite a pocket spill but I bet they all came off of the same blanket after a picnic. I got 2 SLQs, one a 1930 in nice shape, one worn with no date, a 1918 Merc, also in nice shape, three Buffalo nickles, one a 1937, the other two no date, and one Wheat penny with no date (not pictured). I'll be back to these woods after today's snowstorm.

I have a large area of woods that produces a lot of old coins for me as well. You should go back at least a few times every year. The old coins will keep popping up. Nice finds.

Nice haul !

Possibly a old Picnic Grounds - pretty much every town had one a hundred years ago !

Nice finds, Congrats and HH

Really nice coins.............

Several years ago I dug about seventeen 1800's coins from a tiny area in the woods, never did learn why they were there.

I want to get out, but our ground is frozen. Nice job on the coins... KEN

Ya got to be pleased to find a SLQ and a Buffalo with a good readable date! Nice hunt.

Now that's a tough act to follow! Congratulations!:clapping: But I'll be trying.:biggrin::detecting:
