The Minelab forum pages are great. I have not used my XS in 6 yrs. but am going to relearn. Going thru "all" the pages and viewing the photos of different finds gets my heart restarted. To relearn, the classroom forum is great, especially the older messages which i used to think did not have much value. Please keep them posted. If someone had just purchased a used XS or another older Minelab model this older messages can be "very" useful.

Yep, please please keep those older pages available. I'm working my way through learning as much as I can before buying the detector I've always wanted - an Explorer.
Used to use a White's Eagle Spectrum before I gave it up about 10 years ago. So now I'm scamping the cash together and hoping to get an Exp 2, or an XS if I have to or yet an SE if I get lucky. So all that info back there is extrememly useful. In fact, do you guys realize this forum seems to have the best source of practical users' info on the net? I personally have NO COMMENT to make about places where you have to pay a fee to find out stuff.

So, thanks, fellas, much appreciated. I hope in a while, with a bit of experience I can contribute something.
Oh, one point about those back pages - is there any way to have a [Go To Page ___ ] button? Plodding through 2 pages at a time to get to page 132 takes a while! And you don't always know what you're searching for, it's the unexpected find that can be silver.

I will second this motion. I go back through old pages as I have time available. Trying to pick up where I left off is difficult if I am 'somewhere in the middle'. A [ GO TO PAGE ____ ] would be an excellent addtion.

I'm fairly new also but I finally figured it out after much frustration ...... I posted this once but here it is again ..... Go to any page but page 1 in the Explorer forum ..... then go to the web address in the box at the top of the page.....say you are on page 3.... that will be the number at the end of the address.... just change that number to the page you want to go to and hit enter.... and your there ..... Right around page 195 either way there is a lot of good stuff for The XS and EX II.....

If you really want to get an education in a hurry make yourself a small coin garden..... Make sure you have a spot that is pretty clean of trash and put a quarter about 9 inches deep and another quarter about 7 inches deep with a rusty nail about 2 1/2 to 3 inches from it .... put a nickel at about 5 inches and an Indian or a wheat at about 4 or 5 inches...... dig the holes about 2 feet apart and slide the coin or junk into the side of the hole where the dirt has not been disturbed..... mark the center of each coin with a golf tee..... fill the holes back in good .... turn on your detector .... locate the coins and pinpoint them ... listen to the sounds .... watch the cursor dance around ....
and get ready for some jaw dropping revelations . .... Now you can take the wisdom shared on the forum and tune your detector in to what sounds and works best for you instead of blindly plugging in some " hot" program and crossing your fingers the next time you go out to hunt ......I've been there ....
