Old gold necklace?

Aaron

Well-known member
Hey guys need a little help here. I found this necklace tonight in the woods same spot where I found the muskett balls. Im not sure if its gold, its heavy enough and it reads foil. I've been trying to carefully clean it however the build up is on there pretty good. I managed to get some off and it looks like gold under there. The clasps are brass I... think. When I found it, I first thought it was a bracelet, then found the other half when I checked the hole. the little loop is still on there. The two little discs snap together.
HH!

Most likely it's not, because unless it's very low gold content, gold tends to stay nice and shiny like the day it was made.

Only way to know for sure is to test it, but I'm 99.5% sure already that it's not.

HH,
Brian

Brian, yes I agree gold rarely tarnishes, and all the gold I've ever found came out of the dirt looking nice. If it isn't gold it has to be brass, its reading foil though, on all my machines. And its awefully well made and heavy to be brass.

In fact most machines will not even detect a bracelet. Most detectors don't see the whole bracelet just a link or two thats under the center of the coil..

Only your jeweler can tell you for sure...Have seen gold dull a tad depending on conditions but like the other feel it not gold.

Migh add old Russian gold items are not marked and they have a strong copper look unlike our gold so might get it checked out...
