Old gold plated and dated jewelry whatsit?

I found this saturday afternoon and have no idea what it is. I could tell it was plated right away and didn't think much about what I'd found until I saw the date insribed on it 10-04-10. That date of 1910 made my day even if it wasn't solid gold. It appears to have hung from a chain since a connecting link remains attached. Jewelry of some sort? Is the design musical in theme? Ideas anybody? I also found a real nice 1917 mercury, worn 1904 barber dime, 3 indian head pennies, and 9 wheaties.

Hi Phil,
Cool find and I have no idea really. Good to see you are still out and digging. One more warm day up here and I think I'll get the chance to do a little digging myself.

It looks like an old seal of the sort that would have been worn on one end of a watch chain. A design engraved where the date is would have been used to seal letters and documents.
These were often (and still are) worn as jewellery rather than used for their proper purpose. The date is also absolutely right for a letter seal.

Phil,
That cleaned up real nice. It has alot more of the plating than I expected. Had a great time yesterday. I only wish more of those coins would have found their way into my pockets. Talk to you later. I'll let you know how I do today.

Only mine doesnt have the numbers, or doesnt any more... I think that soemone even ID'ed it back then.. but darn if I can remember

This park site just ruins the copper coins.Believe it or not the coin between the 1917 merc and the 1883 indian is a 1907 indian. The indian next to that one is at least recognizable, but poor in shape also. The 9 very ugly wheat cents are circled around the outside. At least the silver is ok.
