Have had this happen more than once,i just went really really slow and dug everything that gave me a high pitched chirp.
I ended up with a couple of wheats and some memorials, decided to see what all the nulling was over,it was the old square nails,
must have been thousands of them.
Better luck next time i guess.

I have a couple of these sites - I've had some luck with ferrous tones/wide open and digging everything high.

I've read a good analog machine with a discrim knob ithat you can turn just past the square nails s the key to these sites.

it really screws with what I've spent 1000's of hours training my ears to listen for. However...if you feel you are missing stuff because of the nulling...then you might want to give ferrous sounds/all metal a shot.

Elton suggested the method I personally use...and that's a smaller coil...and creeping and sifting through the trash:thumbup:
