OLD knife

Whispered words was what the Garrett ATPRO was hinting to me
at 15 inches deep with no ID #s or depth,on the pin point.
I was willing to dig as deep as it took,at 13 inches I hit a RED BRICK
pulled it out of mother earth and 2" under that I pulled the cedar box
that contained the BLADE!!!
I think the brick was put there for a water shed!!!
NOTE the blade warped in a oily type rawhide leather

THANKS
SPUD

wow very clean for a dirt find ... would love to see a pic of the box it was found in.
that would be interesting. what condition was the box in, just seems like a wooden box
would have deteriorated after in the ground for any length of time. even with a brick over it.
wooden boxes are not well known for keeping moisture out , in the condition it is in.
it dont look like it was in the ground for to very long ... maybe a recent bury ....

nice knife either way ....

My first reaction is boutique item.
Not old, despite the depth.
These knives have been made and remade in India, Pakistan, Turkey, etc, for decades.
The etched blade, thin brass edgings, that little chain.. My guess on this one is 1950's to 1970's.

It is hard to believe it was buried, certainly not for long. Any moisture would have caused to leather to go mouldy and the blade to rust.

A nice find, you should look around and see if there is anything else buried nearby.
