Old pocket watches

I went out yesterday with the gang. We hunted an old civil war site close to home.

I found two watch casings about 20 feet apart 6 to 8 inches down. I have never found a watch part before let alone two in the same day at the same site. I think the one on the left may be silver and the one one the right some kind of bronze alloy. I thought it might have been gold but it doesn't seem yellow enough. It has the number 7214 stamped on it but I have no clue what that means. I put the half dollar in the middle just as a size reference it was not from this hunt.

We all found some clad and my friend found a couple Wheaties and a silver dime from 1950. I'm going to be hunting this site for awhile, it has a little bit of everything.

I also found this 3" copper lid. It reads "Un Air Embaume Rigaud"

It's from a turn of the century French perfumer. I think it is the top of a ladies compact but have not found an Internet match yet.

Nice finds Joe, check out the link below, looks like a match. Interesting finds. -- Randy
