Old Post Office Button??

Late last week I had time to hit my neighbors yard for a short hunt. I was trying an open area farther away from the house. Not too much to show for my effort, but I did find a pretty cool button. Based on the back marks smaller lettering I believe it dates to 1860. I thought I saw on some post on some forum that P.O.D. used to appear on US Post Office buttons way back when. I think it stands for Post Office Delivery. Does anyone have a differing opinion on the button, or have a link to a site that confirms my theory?

Thanks and enjoy the pics.

Sweet, thanks for the pdf Phil. I guess I was a bit off on the date, perhaps still late 1800's.
