found this unfired shotgun (cap ?) which was made between 1891-1905, and whatever the other thing is. maybe a piece from an old stove? thought they were kinda neat. anyone have any ideas what it is?

Funny coincidence, I found the same type shell by a very old church this past weekend.
Homebre from Hillsborough

thats cool they dropped the hole shell , paper rooted away, that is an old one , in all the shot shells i have found in the wood s not one guy dropped a coin for me , that stove part looks interesting 1872 they never knew what was coming and got a lot of patents that turned out to be useless cool find I always save the cast Iron its valuable as scrap

i looked up the patents for that date. its either from a hot air furnace or a hayraker. being here in maine, could be either.
