Old vs newer Excalibur

This spring I will try my luck at knee high surf hunting at the Texas coast and decided on a Excalibur. I have a two part question for those who have used all the models of the Excalibur, with coils of the same size which gave more depth in all metal and which was more sensitive on small jewelry? iv used them all and see no diff as far as depth.i do like the Excal ll 1000 better than the older mod's only because the coil is thinner and glides better in water than the old ones plus the NIMH batt system is better than the old NICD . iv seen no diff in depth or sins from one mod to the other.

i can only comment on the newer Excalibur 2 1000 10" coil.Ive done very well with mine,i seem to get good depth, Ive pulled gold rings from 16" and deeper on coins and earrings

My old Excal 1000 hits as deep as that, 16 inches plus is not uncommon. (at least it did until I wore it out, hoping to have it fixed by April)

I hope to have an Excalibur by vacation time. I have been doing my research and have been told some have the opinion that the Excalibur II's are more sensitive to Gold.
The Pro's on here can verify that for you.
