Omega 8000 Gold Number ?

mwbutcher

New member
Hi all,

I am totally new to this hobby and have an Omega 8000 on the way. Reading the manual for the 8000 on line it gives general reading numbers for different metal types but not gold. Is there a category that gold falls into such as rings, necklace, and the like with this detector.

Thanks a bunch to everyone,
Mark

Midland - Michigan and yes it is still frozen and cold - yuk!

Gold jewelry between 40 - 60. Also some foil will give same readings. In other words dig dig dig.

Cool - plenty of foil to wrap the hot dogs in while camping..ha!

Looking forward to learning how it reacts to everything once the ground thaws...thanks again.

does pulltabs come in the same range? if so theres not much seperation going on. im thanking about grtting an omega. just wondering

Gold, foil and pulltabs travel together, no matter which detector you are using. Sometimes you can pick up a difference in the audio signal, but in VID, the numbers are always in the same range for gold and foil and pulltabs.

In other words dig dig dig. The one you don't dig may be worth a whole lot of green.

When you get it... run it over your wedding band if you've got one. Or some other piece of gold. I am embarrased to say how many times I hold a piece of sod in my left hand (wedding ring) and run the Garret pro pointer over the sod. Duh!

You will dig a 5 gallon bucket or two of tabs and small foil before you find gold. Maybe more, it the cold truth about detecting. Diffrent carrots and diffrent sizes read undr foil, square tabs and the round beaver tail pull tabs

EZ.
