Omega 8000. teknetics:

The 10" concentric on the Omega is proving to be a darn good coil in fairly heavy trash. In fact, it is sniffing out good targets so well I still haven't gotten a DD coil of any size for it.

Hit 3 silvers this morning on a short hunt. 2 silver coins, both 1963, and a neat silver ring with 3 pieces of turquoise. Iron and mid tone grunts all around the ring and quarter. Anyway, once again am enjoying the Omega and as a result my F 75 and A T Pro have been getting a nice rest since getting it. HH jim tn

It did much better in the iron infested ground I hunted, over the 11" DD coil, and was much better eliminating rusty old type pop off caps.
Nice to see you found some more silver..

I've had this coil on my other Omega's, but pretty much just used it for moderate trash spots for old coin hunting and sweeping tot lots for jewelry. I haven't yet acquired any DD coils for it and am finding it really performs quite well in iron and trash. Both the ring and silver Washington had mid tones and grunts all around the high tone and it zeroed right in on the good targets and have experienced this on a few other keeper targets as well. Have used my hunting buddies NEL Sharpshooter a few times and quite honestly don't see much difference in target separation. Crushed bottle caps on edge sound pretty with the concentric, but over all don't dig many bottle caps, that's for sure. HH jim tn

What version of the Omega do you have now Jim ? What settings were you using for that particular hunt (sens and tones) ? I might take out my concentric again. I find mine didn't go very deep in my bad ground but it was generally more precise than any DD I have used. By precise I mean pinpointing accuracy and target ID.

Great finds.

This Omega is a version 5. Only an occasional emi issue and never nothing serious.

I pretty much always run sen of 75, no disc and for this hunt, d3 tones. For old coin hunting I typically run d3 or d4 tones.

I don't believe I used the 10" concentric of my other Omega's on real trashy and iron laden spots as I simply don't recall those being as deadly in those environments as is this current one. No, it is not a depth demon, but what it lacks depth wise it more then makes up for in sniffing through the trash and good target id. HH jim tn

I'm using the 7" concentric coil off a F11 on my 8000. I really like it a lot in trashy or iron filled areas.
