Omega 8000 vs F-70

I have read in many posts that the Omega with the 11DD coil is like the T-2 and, vise virsa the F-70 with the 11DD is like the F-75. but what about the Omega and the F-70. Is their anybody that has both? i have used the f-70 and liked it. But after reading about the Omega it sounds like i would love it. what do you guys think?
 
Right now I am considering buying an Omega or an F70. Thank you for the post because I am also interested in comments about these two detectors. Particularly, how do both operate using the 11" DD coil. Thank you. HH Lee

Yes, that was helpful it looks like the F-70 get the nod as far as depth. all the same on target seperation.So it looks like the omega and the F-5 are about the same.so if this is the case and being partial to knob adjustments the F-5 may be the best deal.
 
if you're figuring on getting the 11" DD accessory coil, the game changes a bit. Right now, FT is offering the Pro Pak, (which is the detector with standard 10 Elliptical concentric as well as the 11" DD) with the Omega for $699. The F-5 with the 11" DD will be $670. With only $29 difference, I feel the Omega Pro Pak is the better deal. And yes, I have both detectors. The F-70 with the 11" DD will be $840. OH-MAY-GA!!
 
Do you think the Omega is to the T2 as the F70 is to the F75 ? Just a step down but with the same punch. And do you think the Omega and the F70 with the 11 inch coil get about the same depth?
 
First of all, I never owned or tried the F-70 because I've always had the F-75's and T-2's all along. As you probably know, those three all run on the higher frequency while the Omega, its two siblings, and the F-5 run on a lower frequency.Talking in broad generalities, I think your statement around those particular comparisons is pretty much correct and as such, I'd deduce the F-70 and Omega are in the same depth "league". I know I've seen at least equal depths ON COINS between the T-2 and Omega but the Omega has the more pleasing and discernible (to me) audio response. Just remember, results may vary due to different experience levels and or conditions.

Jay4, the omega is an updated F5. Knobs replaced with membrane switches. Have a friend with F5 and he wishes he had bought an omega. Best overall machine I have owned. Best coin machine is still my Tek Mark I.
 
I had both and the Omega is built better (one of the best balanced detectors ever made and its built more solid than the F-70). The Omega air tests deeper than the CZ series on coins and about equal to the F-70. In the field however I found that the F-70 is a much better coinshooter for me. The ability to adjust the threshold and sensitivity allows you to adjust the detector so that a quarter sounds the size of a quarter or dime etc.. The Omega made targets seem smaller than they are cause the sound was so small especially on dimes. I'm not knocking the Omega as its got a great following but I prefer the F-70. Also I believe for the price quoted by a previous poster of $840 for the F-70 is for 3 coils not just 2. Omega built better but F-70 performs better.

Thanks michaelnc the one dislike i had with the F-70 was the plastic face plate really cheap for 649.00 i know that may be petty but thats just me.You say better build quality with the omega thats a plus.
 
ok guys just currious here if i bought a gamma 6000 with the coil package do you think i would do as well or whats the thought about that?
 
I NEVER THOUGHT THE F75 AND F70 WERE ALIKE AND I THAT IS WHY WHEN I GOT A BACK UP TO THE LTD I GOT A OMEGA 8000
 
For me the 8000 is deeper then the F5 better in iron more like the T2 I had a couple of years ago but I like the 8000 as my backup to the LTD
 
After putting 100's of hours on both the F70 and the F75 LTD, I can honestly say that the F70 is NOT like a F75 lite or whatever you want to call it. They have similarities in operation, but the 75 is a superior machine in all ways IMHO. I haven't put as much time on the Omega as I'd like yet, but it is built far better then the F70 (actually feels a bit better then the 75, but I like the trigger on the 75!!!). I have not seen CZ type depth on the Omega, but I still need more time on it. The Omega is outstanding in EMI compared to other machines.
 
After owning and testing both the Gamma 6000 and the Omega 8000 side-by-side I would say "yes" you would see VERY similar performance with the Gamma 6000 when compared to the Omega 8000. The Gamma seems to be the forgotten detector in the Titanium line. In head-to-head testing the Gamma was not noticeably that much different from its more expensive sister. Like Buckeye Brad has mentioned on several other posts, the Omega's audio has a language of its own. To put it bluntly the Omega simply sounds better to my tired old ears. Having owned two F-70's and now the Omega I will go out on a limb and say for my hunting style the Omega
gets the nod. I was never able to MAX out the sensitivity on the F-70 and have a stable detector; however, with the Omega I can crank the sensitivity wide-open while still maintaining stability. The key for a stable Omega is coil motion! I am primarily an urban coin hunter and high conductors like old silver is where the Omega really shines. However, if your hunting style is a little more diversified than mine and you find yourself looking for low conductors like relics than the F-70 may be a better choice. Having used all three detectors mentioned in this post I could easily recommend any one of them to a friend with a clear conscious.
